Crafted a dynamic and user-centric gamified system, revolutionizing the landscape of sustainable product sharing and trading. Seamlessly blending engaging design principles with eco-friendly practices, the project transforms everyday interactions into meaningful contributions toward a greener future. This was constructed using some elements of self-determination theory as well as Kevin Werbach's six-step gamification design framework.
The primary business objective is to enhance user engagement and transactions on the ShareAll platform, ultimately leading to increased revenue. Shares is a global virtual currency developed by ShareAll that can be used to purchase access to any asset in the system. Shares can be exchanged for real money, and users can generate more Shares by sharing items or volunteering their time to complete tasks for others. The overarching goal is to drive higher profits for ShareAll through elevated levels of sharing, trading, and spending of Shares.
The key behaviours expected from users include sharing items or services on the platform, volunteering time for tasks, and actively participating in the generation, trading, and spending of Shares. Metrics, such as increased sharing frequency, higher volume of Shares generated, traded, and spent, will serve as indicators of success.
The target audience encompasses a diverse demographic, including students, singles, and newly married individuals, within the age range of 18 to 55. Psychographic characteristics focus on those who are tech-savvy, socially conscious, and value sustainability.
New users will be incentivized with bonus Shares for their initial successful share or volunteer activity. Additional Shares can be earned through trading or spending on the platform. Achievement badges and levels based on the shares earned tied to sharing milestones, coupled with progress bars, will visualize users' progression, to create competency. Real-time notifications will serve as effective feedback mechanisms for completed shares, successful trades, and volunteered tasks.
Articles and stories highlighting sustainability and positive impacts achieved through sharing will be featured to motivate players. Leaderboard featuring top sharers. Social interactions among family, friends, and other users will be encouraged to foster a sense of community and collaboration. Users will have the autonomy to explore the system and customize their avatars on their profiles based on the shares they've earned.
The deployment tools for this gamified system include the following to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for ShareAll users.
A user-friendly interface accessible through websites and/or apps, catering to personal computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
A point system based on earned shares with a progress bar displaying levels such as beginner, intermediate, and advanced, will be implemented.
Badges (e.g., blue, green, and red stars) will be awarded based on the achieved levels.
Customization of avatars on the users’ profile based on the shares earned.
Wallet to store virtual currency 'Shares' which will encourage users to earn, trade, and spend within the platform.
Real-time notifications will provide timely updates on completed shares, successful trades, volunteered tasks, and exclusive offers and activities.
